A Long, Exciting Day

Yesterday lasted somewhere between forever and eternity. It started at midnight. I woke up, began thinking about heading to church and talking about my back pain and what we have gone through and my brain would not stop. I really didn't want to talk about it. The wound is really fresh still, I am currently having a small respite from the pain, but it could come back tomorrow and while disappointing, I wouldn't be really surprised. So I prayed and spoke with God from then until 0510 when the alarm went off to start our Sunday. The family was up, we got ready and headed into church. My eldest helped to setup Club KP (the younger RCCers' church) and my youngest boy helped me run cables in our main area. Once that was all done, there was an emergency with the SongShow Plus computer that needed attention and then we started church. The portion I was involved in, the interview with Pastor Dean, was about 45 minutes long I figured and Dean was really nice to me. He has gone through so much of this journey with me, he knows my deep, dark secrets and didn't make me give them voice...only my less deep secrets! After that was done, we all headed over to Cabela's for our church meeting that was to begin around 1200. That was finally done by 1500 when we began our board meeting which went by really quick and I was back home by 1700. It should have been a 12 hour day but with my brain not letting me sleep it became a 17 hour day and it was both exhausting and exciting. The work exhausted me, but during the church meeting, we had various RCCers stand up and give their presentations of how RCC can do better with a bunch of different areas and people not only had great ideas, they were excited about them as well! I have heard a lot of great ideas over the years, but sometimes people think they are doing a favor by just coming up with the idea and they expect the staff to do the work associated with it, but yesterday people not only had good ideas, but they committed to being a part of making them happen and that was really exciting to me! The board had to discuss a few of the recommendations and get back to the various teams and we came to the consensus that it falls to the RCCers to make these things happen. We liked the ideas that came out of the meetings, we are just going back to the church to let them know if they step up with people and time and talent to get things done, it will get done. If they want to do it, neither the staff nor the board will stand in their way, they just need to get the warm bodies to make it happen. This is an exciting time at RCC and I'm certain a lot of these great ideas can be put into place as long as people are willing to own the ideas and commit to making them happen.
