The phone call

So it was Saturday evening at 1900 or so when the phone rang. It was Dean and because he's a part of the critical incident team they put him on standby to help out with the people whose lives were affected by the deaths in the Neola fire. He may have to be shipped out on a plane and not be available for church on Sunday. He's calling to ask if I could deliver the teaching.

GULP

My heart skipped a beat or two, my brain went into overdrive, the adrenaline surged and I stammered
Uh....well....no, I can't

*SIGH* I know, it's bad, but I just am unable to whip out a talk that quickly. It still takes me around 20-30 hours of prep to have a message put together for a Sunday and even staying up all night I only had 11 hours before I had to be at the theater so there was no way. So now I'm committed to get an extra teaching done so that should this occur again, I will have one in the can that I can deliver...I hope
