An epic battle
The battle was worthy of Peter Jackson putting it on the screen. This was like the battle of Helms Deep! Thousands of soldiers left the safety of their home to try and repel the giant marauders. The creatures attacking were easily 100 times larger than those they attacked, but the soldiers fought bravely. After all their queen was inside along with their Winter stores and they were not going to lose those without a fight! Unfortunately, my bees lost and the racoons tipped their hives over and stole their honey...more Wintertime farm life fun!

Sorry to hear about this. Have you lost all your bees and hives now? Dave and I have been thinking about getting into the honey business. More info, please.
Yep, we only keep the two hives here and they are both gone now. What I did find when I went out with the sun to get some better photos was there was a remnant of bees left on the larger hive. Not a whole slug of them, but maybe a few hundred. My apiast is coming by in his suit to examine the hive to see if there is a queen left and to see if we can recover them.
