The tool

Well, there's the tool to align the tractor so I can finally get this thing back together. It started as a bit of hex stock I had in the shop, then I turned the small end down to .639" the medium is .750" and the big end is 1.40" in diameter. The small end fits the pilot bearing, the medium end is for the transmission clutch and the big end is for the PTO clutch. Now I have to try it and pray that it works!

I couldn't help but remember my grandfather as I took this part off my lathe. He worked in what we all knew as The Mill his whole life, and I always knew him as the person who could fix anything. I know when my mother was little he made her a hopscotch marker out of stainless steel, and he made his own wedding band as well. I think he would have appreciated this tool I was able to make on the lathe.
