On work and volunteers...
Even the act of putting a volunteer up on the screen takes volunteers. We have a volunteer camera person who runs around taking photos so we have a photo for the screen. Then our SongShow Plus operator crops the photo and tries to come up with a theme and background that goes along with that specific volunteer for their one slide that might be seen for 10 seconds on a Sunday. Then our computer operator on a Sunday hits the slide for the proper time while I discuss the volunteer for a moment. Honestly, on a Sunday it may look like 10 seconds have passed, but that one volunteer slide probably represents around thirty minutes of effort to put on the screen.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of getting stuff done at RCC. We recently had a couple of RCCers go down to Mexico to help out an orphanage down there. While they were down there, a local pastor was amazed that the pastor of RCC would send two women to Mexico to scout out a possible missions location for our youth. The truth of the matter is nobody from RCC sent them to Mexico rather they felt compelled by God to help out these unwanted kids in Mexico and went there on their own. Heck, our lead pastor was in Denmark when they went!
There is so much work that needs to be done at RCC that at times it is overwhelming. I am so grateful to all those folk who have stepped up to take on the challenge. As a church we would not have nearly the impact on our community that we have had without all the people that step up to get it done. Currently we are looking for camera operators and people to help out in our creative team with filming, editing and helping to put together our shorts for the screen. I also see a huge need for an IS&T person to step up and help us get our own email server running in an attempt to cut down on the massive amount of spam that is waded through daily.
To all you volunteers, thank you.
